Francine Delany New School for Children provides opportunities for its students to participate in organized sporting events. We believe that fitness is importance and want our students be physically active. We want both, students who have never participated in organized sports or students who have been involved in organized sports, to have a place to learn athletic skills, to build leadership, to gain confidence, and to have fun. Our students take pride in their teams and work to continue a reputation of hardworking athletes that bring smiles to the faces of their fans and spectators.
Evergreen Community Charter School, Rainbow Mountain School, Odyssey Community School, The New Classical Academy and Francine Delany New School for Children have created what we call the Hospitality League. All five of our schools are committed to giving our athletes a positive experience where middle school students get to participate in co-ed sports. During any game, a spectator would see that all students get to play and everyone at the event display positive, caring attitudes to each other. As of the 2008 and 2009 seasons all five teams will participate in flag football, basketball, and soccer. In 2009 we welcomed The Learning Community and ArtSpace Charter School to our league
FDNSC also participates in other athletic events. There are running clubs where students are encouraged to set personal running goals. The overall goal of the running club is to get students to participate in 5k events. Run Club will meet each Monday during the 2009-2010 from 3:05-4:00.
