I have been teaching at Francine Delany New School for Children since 1997 when we opened our doors at New Mount Olive Baptist Church. I have both a BS in Education and an MA in Education from Western Carolina University. My teaching career began in 1994 with Asheville City Schools and Asheville Parks and Recreation. I worked with both preschool and elementary school students for my first three years. I taught grades 2-4 primarily during the first nine years Delany was open. In 2005 I took on the challenge as the Operations Coordinator at Francine Delany. Q: Did the school receive stimulus money for the 2009-2010 school year?
A: We received $79,035.14. We used this to pay for our kindergarten teaching position ($39,920), a part-time EC teaching position ($31,324.14), and part of our Title I program ($7,791).
Q: How is the building project funded?
A: Since we do not receive building funds from the state, we have to fundraise for our building efforts, write grants, and plan wisely. |
