I began teaching in 2002, and I am
thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful community. I grew up in Ohio
on a farm and got a great teacher education at Ohio University. I lived
in Portland, Oregon for a couple of years working with
youth in a variety of settings, then started my teaching career in Wake
County Public Schools in Raleigh. I spent five wonderful years at Poe
Montessori Magnet School teaching 4th and 5th
grade, one year at Moore Square Museums Magnet Middle School teaching 6th
grade Language Arts and Social Studies, and completed my Master's
Degree in Middle Grades Education at NC State. I love to spend time
outdoors being active, eat healthy food, and make music and art. I am
filled with hope about my new home in Asheville where my priorities and
interests are supported, and I am excited to have found a family here at
FDNSC where we focus on community, reader’s and writer’s work shop and
teaching for social justice. I look forward to another great year!
