Francine Delany New School For Children

I began teaching in 2002, and I am thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful community. I grew up in Ohio on a farm and got a great teacher education at Ohio University. I lived in Portland, Oregon for a couple of  years working with youth in a variety of settings, then started my teaching career in Wake County Public Schools in Raleigh. I spent five wonderful years at Poe Montessori Magnet School teaching 4^th and 5^th grade, one year at Moore Square Museums Magnet Middle School teaching 6^th grade Language Arts and Social Studies, and completed my Master's Degree in Middle Grades Education at NC State. I love to spend time outdoors being active, eat healthy food, and make music and art. I am filled with hope about my new home in Asheville where my priorities and interests are supported, and I am excited to have found a family here at FDNSC where we focus on community, reader’s and writer’s work shop and teaching for social justice. I look forward to another great year!
